Mothers’ Storytelling Circle – Roots & Journeys

  • Maine afro Yoga Project Studio 1129 Broadway South Portland, ME, 04106 United States (map)

Roots & Journeys is an exploration of how we come into ourselves.

This circle invites mothers — in every expression of the word — to explore who we are through the stories that live in our roots and the journeys that have carried us here.

Roots may be ancestral or personal; journeys may be physical, emotional, or spiritual. Together, we will honor stories of survival, resilience, and self-discovery as pathways of identity.

Through gentle prompts, you’ll be invited to reflect on questions such as:

  • What stories live in your roots?

  • What journeys brought you here, to this moment?

  • How have survival and resilience shaped the person you are today?

Those who wish may share their stories aloud, being held and witnessed in community. Our circle is not about performance, but about truth-telling, listening, and honoring each voice.

Why It Matters

In a world that often silences personal stories, this circle creates a space to be heard. By naming our journeys and remembering our roots, we affirm that our survival and becoming are sacred. Together, we weave a collective story of strength, resilience, and belonging.

Goal: To create a safe, intentional space where people can express who they are through story, claiming their survival and journeys as part of identity.
